This is an art in itself. If the manuscript concept review is done
carefully, this stage may be unnecessary. However, there is often a
need for substantive editing, especially with first-time authors. But
even established, published authors and professional writers such as
journalists, who are not used to dealing with the sheer size of a
book, may need help restructuring their manuscripts. A competent
substantive editor can make all the difference with the many problems
that occur in the early stages of a book's production.
